As a hip, hooked-up PR agency, we are in the business of dressing and beautifying celebs with our clients’ clothes and products. So, as i was walking out the door last Thursday, a stylist friend of mine called in a panic that he needed clothes ASAP for his client’s appearance on Rachael Ray. The client? Beautiful Sara Ramirez of Grey’s Anatomy fame! Amazing! And with that began a three-day chase for Sara’s perfect ensemble. On Fridya, we pulled tops, dresses, jeans, gowns and sweaters, from our clients Camille La Vie and Donna Morgan – by the end of the day, there was a mountain of clothes for her! Saturday came, and so did the process of choosing an outfit and fitting her. Lucky for us, she chose a super-cute top from Cmaille La Vie and paired it with a hot pair of jeans. The catch? She needed a different size – by Sunday night!!! Our client only had that one in stock PLUS I didn’t know how would we get anything shipped to us in time??? What to do? Where to find it? By pure luck, and with a lot of help from the CLV sales team, I was able to track down one in her size in NJ. A couple of hours and a short car ride later, Sara had her perfect CLV top! The taping is today, and I can’t wait to see how she dazzles in that top when the episode airs later this week! At the end of a long three days, it’ll be thrilling to see our clients’s clothes on TV worn by a top celeb!

So my fav friend, acrimonious red, doesn’t believe in the power “to will”…well I DO!! Another crazy day in the fashion district running around to find the perfect dress, top, pant, skirt, etc…to fit into my favorite editor’s story – so the rest of America will purchase and succumb to the fashion evils of NYC…just as I thought my day was about to end – I had to send Ali Ro dresses to a store due to popular demand – the catch – I had to run all the way downtown (no where near a fedex..ps) and pick up these gorge dresses from the Family Circle shoot (issue date for 29 November – a 6 page exclusive for Ali Ro and Donna Morgan). I get there sweating in my cutest attire – stumbling over the cobble stone in the meat packing district – alas the studio! Picked up the Ali Ro dresses and on my blackberry asking where the hell am I going to find a FedEx drop off…time’s a ticking’…I said out loud – LORD do I need a FedEx man…and the gods hailed my wishes…and in the midst of the summer heat – yes it was my very own FedEx man! I asked can you take this? And of course with a quick smile – said follow me to my truck…quickest pick up for me EVER! So, moral of the story – believe in ‘Willing” things to happen and don’t be like the acrimonious red!

As the overcast clouds pass my window in my office, I think of how eerie all the buildings in this city look encased in the fog. I am the first to tell you I love the rain and the seasons changing, new clothes and new memories to be made (like the Halloween parties I have coming up this weekend). Alas, as I turned on my computer this morning I was greeted with a satellite image of greater San Diego, imbued with worm-like lines of smoke squirming out onto the ocean. I am so thankful the fog I have to deal with is only temporarily blocking out the sun and not threatening our city. My best friend lives in San Diego and while she is fine, she tells me that there is a very strange mood there. “No one is in school or at work, the National Guard is patrolling neighborhoods, the mall and all other stores are closed. There is nothing to do but surf,” she told me today. I can only imagine those people trapped at the stadium watching the news and seeing their neighborhood devastated by fire, having that feeling of utter despair and displacement. The mental images are enough to pull at anyone’s heart, urging them to want to help. As my own personal tribute, I started my own fire today. I took out a California Jasmine Jimmy Belasco candle (scented with jasmine, bergamot, ylang and crème) because Jimmy himself believes in giving back. With every candle purchased on the website, a portion is donated to the customer’s charity of choice. As I watch the flame flicker against our cities grey backdrop, I can only hope that California’s smoky surroundings disappear soon.

Forget Dancing With the Stars – last night Marie Osmond was seeing stars as the big thud heard around the world was her falling to the floor! I actually cried during the prolonged commercial break – hoping that Marie had not taxed herself with all that fancy hoofing. It didn’t help that I myself (another 40 something attempting to get into shape) had to lay down and meditate after a 30 minute romp on my treadmill! Did you see that Karl Lagerfield staged a $10 MILLION DOLLAR extravaganza fashion show on the Great Wall of China – a new high/low??? for the bling dynasty. Emerging growth markets are hot and consumers in China are setting the stage for further logo-driven growth. Our client Warren Donner New York (WD-NY) now has 15 branded stores throughout China and our client Fruits & Passion is concentrating on their own emerging growth in Asia with eight boutiques and over 80 employees racking up profits for the brand much faster than Marie can rack up enough sympathy votes to Samba herself into the finals. Stay tuned I soon be dancing my way back to you again…Blah…Blah…Blonde

I just walked into the office, having been in Florida last week for the opening of the third US Fruits & Passion store. The trip was great, and the opening night VIP event was fabulous… Shirtless male models, bongo players, hand massages, mouth-watering hors d’eouvres and wine!! I met and talked to so many new and interesting people, like Diane Ledoux of the French newspaper Le Soleil de la Floride, Elaine Walker of the Miami Herald and the French-Canadian general consul Marcy Grossman. I feel like I came back with so many news friends and contacts. But earlier in the day, before all this fabulousness, I was ferociously calling editors and reporters, while my client was making a mad dash to get the store stocked and open in time. Luckily, they primped and propped the store to perfection just under the clock! Watching their fastidiousness was inspiring and to be part of a team that takes such pride in their stores is pricelessly motivating! Up next: Las Vegas – Stay tuned!
P.S. – As if that wasn’t fabulous enough, while I was in Aventura, I saw customers walking through the mall with Camille La Vie (another client) bags filled to the brim!! Maybe they bought the dress that was featured in InTouch?
